When I bought my very first goats I had every intention of training them to pack, but life had other plans and we mostly focused on keeping our animals for meat and dairy instead. However, over the years, I have always held out hope that one day one of our buyers would have that same dream, and give one of our many sweet boys a working home. Well, that never happened.
So, taking matters into our own hands we have decided to start training our wethers ourselves for packing. We won't be able to keep them all, but they will be looking for homes amongst active hikers, back packers, hunters, and adventurers looking for a quiet loyal companion to explore the wilderness with!

Packing with Goats
For a very long time wethers have been over looked on the farm. They are friends for rutty bucks, companions for single does on urban farmsteads in the middle of the city, meat for the family, company for the lonely livestock, and occasionally pets.
But there is a renaissance out there that is giving wethered goats a new and far more exciting lease on life. Wethers are now carving out a new niche along rugged mountain trails with guides as packing animals for tourists, hunting trips, and for active families that need a more environmentally friendly hiking companion.
